About

My name is Jessica, ten years ago I left my home in CT, saying goodbye to everything and everyone I knew and set out on an adventure in San Diego, CA. In that time I learned a lot about myself and found my forever home. For the past 17 years I have worked in the hospitality industry, in 2020 when Covid hit, like many in the industry I was out of work. I started to question what my goals where, what was I going to due when we reopened, if I even wanted to go back at all. After the first lock down, I returned to my restaurant job only to have them shift to a tip pool system (meaning I would share all my tips with everyone else for a two week period), I took this as one of many signs that it was time to start making my way out of the industry. After years of busting my ass, working in a field I genuinely loved, I was taking a pay-cut and having to work harder. I could leave and find another restaurant, but that would mean starting all over again, I made the decision it was time to focus on what made me happy, what brought me peace at the end of the day and made a difference in others. My focus shifted to finding inner peace and living a healthier, happier lifestyle.

This blog is titled Ice Cream and Yoga because that became my mantra of 2020. Years ago I read an article about a girl who gave up a six figure career to move to an island, sell ice cream and teach yoga. My grandmother said it sounded like something I would and with the changes that 2020 brought it felt like the right time to make it my reality. I cut back my hours at the restaurant and landed a job at a frozen yogurt shop, signed up for paddle-board yoga teacher training and was offered a teaching spot with a great company that supports me and wants to help me grow.

I love working out, yoga, eating, and adventures. These are the things that bring me happiness, and if I love doing those things, why not connect with others that do as well.

I hope you enjoy and look forward to connecting with you!
